The Health Services Case Manager is an integral part of the Patient Services team, responsible for the coordination and delivery of services related to the patient support programs offered by McKesson Specialty. The role involves interactions with patients, insurance companies, pharmacies, physicians and other health care professionals (HCPs) to explore and obtain coverage for the prescribed medication as well as management of the patient cases.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  •  Territory Management
    • Achieves Key Performance Indicators of the program
    • Implements all program and departmental policies and protocols at the regional level
    • Travels as required throughout assigned territory, monthly for one on one management meetings and weekly for operational team meetings.
    • Coordinates services between patients, physicians, other healthcare team members and adjacent parties to ensure optimal outcomes achieved with clear communication
  • Patient Support
    • Welcomes each patient to the program and captures required patient information;
    • Provides therapy guidelines to patients and physicians;
    • Ensures patient services are coordinated and tracked, according to KPIs, resulting in expedited access to therapy;
    • Coordinates private and public coverage activity directly with insurers following program Standard Operating Procedures;
    • Provides information and navigates patient through financial assistance
    • Follows up the outcome of reimbursement navigation with patients and prescribers;
    • Assists patient with coordination of therapy
    • Reports Adverse Events following program Standard Operating Procedures and Safety Guidelines.
    • Participates regularly in telephone consultations and/or web based meetings/training sessions to share information with in-house operational team.
    • High quality, accurate, and efficient data entry of patient and healthcare professional demographics and drug- and disease-related information.
  • Clinic Support
    • Reviews patient status and assists the prescribing physician to complete patient, enrolments, prepare Special Authorization (SA) petitions for public or private coverage by reviewing all relevant information in order to complete the SA
    • Proactively provides assistance to resolve clinic complaints/concerns in regards to program procedures.
    • Completes all relevant reports (program specific reports, expenses, etc.) as per specified timelines and as per required standards.
    • Ensures regular, predictable availability to meet appointment scheduling needs with clinics in an efficient and cost-effective manner
    • Consults with physicians, supervisor and program manager regarding education and implementation of product specific program
    • Provides training to physicians and clinics on program and new initiatives approved by the client.
  • Strategic
    • Acts as liaison and provides on-going feedback to supervisor based on observations in the field and feedback from customers as it pertains to quality of services, training, and other areas of importance.

Qualifications

  • University Degree or College Diploma in a related field or equivalent
  • Two to five years case management/program management experience and/or previous pharmaceutical brand management experience or equivalent, specific to specialty drugs is an asset
